CRTC reviewing Niagara application:
The president of a proposed Niagara TV station says the CRTC has been reviewing his application and expects it will announce a date for a public hearing by the end of the summer.
Wendell Wilks, a veteran TV producer, came to the region two years ago with plans to launch a locally-focused station with 90 employees working in studios in St. Catharines and Niagara Falls, as well as smaller operations in Welland and Brantford.
TV Niagara filed an application with the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission in October, but the process has been delayed because of technical issues.
After an application has been reviewed, the commission will hold a public hearing to consider the proposal and hear from opponents and rival bidders.
