Wendell G. Wilks

Wendell has moved his family to St. Catharines. His 18 year old son, a recent graduate of Governor Simcoe High School, and Tracy Wilks, Wendell’s eldest son is TVN Executive Vice President. Wendell’s wife Janine is an actor-commentator. Wendell Wilks has been a Canadian Television Executive and producer since 1960.
Wendell founded ITV Edmonton and CTS Toronto as start-up TV operations that have gone on to be very successful enterprises.
Wendell has also managed TV stations in Calgary and Kingston and acted as Global General Manager in re-organizing Global after in its early stages of operations.
In TV production Wendell Wilks was one of the founders of CANPRO and was a founding director of the Banff International Television Festival and the Canadian Broadcasting Institute. His TV series include the current “Galloping Gourmet” TV series with Graham Kerr which debuts on PBS in the US this fall on 150 stations.
His TV credits include “The Palace”, “The Baxters”, “Live at the Forum” and “Celebrity Concerts” with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. He was also instrumental in marketing SCTV, which was produced at ITV Edmonton, to the CBC and NBC networks.
Wendell has won many awards and is past Chairman of the Calgary Ad and Sales Club. While Chairman, Wendell created the “Love” awards which is the Calgary regional Ad & Sales annual awards ceremony.
